Is there a way to have some of the forums viewable by guests without giving them permission to post? I think we have too many signing up with only a casual interest but wanting to view the forum. Only one category is strictly for members, I wouldn't mind guests reading the rest of it.
Thanks!

Hi Donna,

Yes, you can do that very easily.

First, go into your Manage Permission Levels section and make sure the Guest / 0 user level has the Post Messages and Create Topics box unchecked.

Then, go into the Manage Boards and Categories section and set Min View Level for the boards/categories you want guests to be able to view to zero, and the ones you don't want them to view to the appropriate level.

Guests will still see the Create New Topic and Post Message links, but clicking on them will take them to a page asking them to register or login.
