Modify Site Preferences: Form StyleAugust 21, 2004 @ 1:34pm
Hi All,

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I'm new to web design and still learning. I noticed that in the Modify Site Preferences area in control panel, the very last option is called "Form Style". Would you please explain what this means and how to use it?

Thanks much!

Hi Minnie!

Thanks for your question and it's not a dumb one at all.

The FlexCMS Form Style variable allows you to change, if you wish, the look of the form elements on the site, such as dropdowns, input boxes and buttons. Note: Due to bugs in some web browsers, radio buttons and checkboxes will not have styles applied).

These form elements are already set in the templates delivered with FlexCMS, however you can override them if you desire. This uses standard CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) tags, and will be inserted for you into the style="[inserted here]" attribute of form elements on the site.

An example from one of the templates is inlcuded below for reference:

The Techno (Blue) template uses the following form style by default:

background-color: #e6eef8; color: #184985;

If you are not familiar with CSS, there are thousands of CSS reference pages on the Internet. You can just go to Google and search on CSS. To start you off, I've found this site to be useful in the past:

Hope this info helps you, please let us know if you have any other questions!
