Is there a way to run multiple calendars. The site I am building has multiple venues. One calendar won't do it.

Unfortunately that's not an option at the moment. We're working on a way to have multiple copies of the same module, hopefully released sometime early 2011.
In the meantime one thing you can do is install separate copies of FlexCMS (in a subfolder, for example), that would give you additional calendars.
